Elmwood Stock Farm produces an abundance of food in the midst of summer in Kentucky. It’s a speciall time of year to be out at the farm, and we welcome you to share in the splendor. Come out and see the farm, meet the farmers and experience the rhythm of regenerative agriculture. “The farm, the plants, the fields—everything’s teeming with life. It’s like National Geographic right before your eyes,” says Elmwood Stock Farm’s Mac Stone of the activities taking place this time of year.
The Elmwood Stock Farm Traditions Tours are designed to educate adults and children alike about how food gets from the farm to your plate. The two-hour tour will touch on many of the regenerative-agriculture techniques employed at the farm, including greenhouse production systems, pastured poultry and pigs, grass-fed cattle and sheep, vegetable-growing, soil-building, ecologically sustainable agriculture, and beneficial insects, to name a few. Come ready for an outdoor adventure!
Together, we will traipse through the fields, gaze up into the sprawling old oak trees, inspect the soil, and discover the many sights and sounds (and smells!) of Mother Nature at work.
About This Farm Tour
This tour will be held rain or shine, except in the event of severe weather.
Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before the event start time so that the tour may begin at 9:00 am.
Directions will be emailed to everyone who registers so that you can find the correct farm entrance and the starting point for this event.
To gain the full experience, wear comfortable shoes or boots that you don't mind getting dirty, pants that allow you to kneel to examine the soil, and protection from the sun, heat, or rain. Bring a water bottle!
This is a working farm, so electric fences are on, children need to be supervised by the adults who brought them, and pets are not allowed.
Bring your cooler and your grocery list, or place an online order with us ahead of time, as the on-farm store will be open at the end of the tour.
Masking is optional at this time and social distancing is required.
Children under the age of 12 receive complimentary tour tickets by contacting the farm directly.
Elmwood Stock Farm CSA members should register and purchase at least one ticket, and then can add the rest of the family at no charge by contacting the farm directly.
After attending the tour, the value of the purchased tour ticket will then be credited to your CSA member account to use for purchasing extra items throughout the season.

Elmwood Stock Farm, in Georgetown, Ky., is a sixth-generation, USDA Certified organic family farm that began as a producer of Black Angus breeding-stock cattle.
Now a Wagyu-Angus cross, the cattle are still an important part of the farm ecosystem and farm business, though over the past decade, the farm has branched out to produce a variety of organic vegetables, fruits, meats and eggs.
