Catholic Charities of Louisville

Catholic Charities of Louisville, Inc., as members of Catholic Charities USA and an apostolate in the Archdiocese of Louisville provides services to people in need, advocates for justice in social structures and calls the entire church and others of good will to do the same.

The origins of our mission are rooted in Catholic social teaching, which emphasizes the dignity of every human being ensuring services are provided to those in need regardless of race, religion or socio-economic background. Cardinal Justin Rigali, then Archbishop of St. Louis, eloquently stated our basis to serve, “We serve others, not because they are Catholic, but because we are Catholic.”
Every day, our staff and volunteers provide help and create hope through direct service and referral to individuals and families seeking counsel, mothers and infants, youth, refugees and displaced persons, the indigent, the sick and the aged. In addition to these services, social ministry has expanded to provide consultation and education, legislative advocacy and training for social justice issues. Through all of these efforts, Catholic Charities of Louisville has played a vital role in improving the lives of everyone in our community.
