Event Details

This year the University of Louisville will celebrate the 46th anniversary of the Dr. Joseph H. McMillan Black Family Conference.  For 2019, instead of a conference with workshops and breakout sessions, the planning committee has decided to host a conference celebration on Friday evening, March 1, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Muhammad Ali Center, located at 144 N. 6th Street https://www.alicenter.org/.  The theme this year is “Sankofa:  Celebrating our Past and Preparing for our Future.”  We are excited and encourage you to attend the Celebration, which will feature journalist, activist, and humanitarian Shaun King as the keynote speaker.

A special reception is planned for 6:00 p.m. featuring light refreshments, with the Shaun King lecture beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets for the reception and lecture are $25 each.  Immediately following the lecture, those interested may join us for an intimate dinner and conversation with the speaker.  Tickets to the lecture AND dinner are available for $100 per person or $1000 for a table of 10.
