Event Details
Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach teachers, bus drivers, school staff, family resource directors, school counselors, and administrators how to help youth and adolescents who are experiencing mental health problems, addiction or are in crisis.
The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.
This is a free training open to JCPS/ABRI schools; lunch is on your own. Limited to 30 participants. Please email Shannon Frey, shannon.frey@louisville.edu, with school name and role (eg: teacher, instructional coach, counselor). Thank you!
