The Year of Arts, HeALIng, & Action! (AHA!) culminates with final AHA! Moments on Jan. 25 at the University of Louisville’s Kosair Charities Clinical Translational Research Building, in tandem with the launch of the University of Louisville School of Public Health & Information Sciences’ Center for Creative Placehealing.
AHA! brings together corporate leaders, organizations and communities to explore how arts and culture can positively impact health.
“It has been tremendous to see the breadth of participants who have been engaged through AHA! Moments in 2018, from young people to athletes, artists to corporate and civic leaders, all delving into creative approaches to health and wellbeing,” said Josh Miller, co-founder and CEO of IDEAS xLab and co-chair of the Louisville Health Advisory Board’s Communications committee. “Our final AHA! event delves into environmental health -- both the physical environment, and the spaces where we spend so much of our time, like the workplace. From air quality to diversity and inclusion, the environment can impact our healthy days and quality of life.”
Led by Humana, the Louisville Health Advisory Board (LHAB), IDEAS xLab, University of Louisville School of Public Health & Information Sciences and the Muhammad Ali Center, the first three AHA! Moments events focused on social, mind/body and economic health, framed by Muhammad Ali’s 6 core principles - Confidence, Conviction, Dedication, Giving, Respect and Spirituality.
“I applaud this fresh and innovative approach to partnering with and through the local arts to create awareness and promote a culture of health,” said Bryan Loy, M.D., co-chair of the Louisville Health Advisory Board and corporate medical director at Humana. “These events align quite nicely with Humana’s and the Louisville Health Advisory Board’s goal of improving the health of the populations we serve.”
An evening reception starting at 6 p.m. will include an introduction of the new Center for Creative Placehealing which aims to improve population well-being by leveraging the power of arts, culture and the creative industries to translate scientific research for private sector social innovation.
“We are excited to be part of an innovative strategy that brings t
