About:
The LGBT Health Certificate was created to close the knowledge gap in regards to LGBT culturally competent care and address significant health disparities in this patient population.The Patient Simulation is a key component of the Certificate and the only required session to complete the Certificate.
Patient Simulation sessions offer an interactive and highly effective approach to learning in which LGBTQ+ community members act out patient encounters with participants and offer feedback on patient communication skills. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to learn about some of the most common barriers to care for the LGBTQ+ patient population and how to effectively address them.
Objectives:
Demonstrate improved culturally appropriate language and communication when interacting with diverse members of the LGBTQ+ patient population.
Identify common barriers to care for the LGBTQ+ patient population and how to effectively address them.
