Techstars and LEAP are hosting a FREE twice-a-month series of founder stories and entrepreneurship workshops for the greater Louisville region. If you are a current founder, interested in becoming an entrepreneur, joining a startup team, or being more entrepreneurial in your job or life, this is for you.
Join us on Wednesday, May 29 from 5:00 - 6:30PM for an in-depth discussion with Jordan Fliegel to learn his story of becoming a startup founder.
Why a founder story?
In the news, on social media, and in community conversations, we hear and tell the stories about an entrepreneur’s big wins: a fundraising event, winning a pitch competition, making a prestigious hire, or securing a successful exit. What’s often missing, however, is the full picture of the founder’s journey that includes the hard times, the perseverance, and even the fun and fulfillment of building a company.
This series of founder stories is intentionally intimate (Twitter-free, and no recording!) and will give the audience a dose of reality they wouldn't get in any other context. Founders will share an open account of their time handling things like cofounder conflict, the personal cost of entrepreneurship, and how things have changed since being in the startup. Founders will also talk about the funny stuff, unexpected learnings, the random luck that got the company through at times, and more. These talks are highly personal and confidential.
Together we’ll see that all founders can be vulnerable and talk about the hard parts of building a company with their peers and find support and help within the startup community.
Who is Jordan?
Jordan Fliegel is Managing Director of the Techstars Sports Accelerator based in Indianapolis. Before launching the accelerator, Jordan was co-CEO of DRAFT, a venture-backed startup in the daily fantasy sports industry, which he sold in 2017 for $48M to Paddy Power Betfair, the publicly traded leader in online gaming. Before DRAFT, Jordan was founder and CEO of CoachUp.com, the category leading sports coaching company, backed by $15M in venture-capital, and in partnership with 2X NBA MVP Stephen Curry as the company's lead spokesman. He is also an author, startup mentor, and angel investor.
