Description
Cranksgiving is a free food drive on two wheels. Part bike ride and part food drive that’s has been held annually nationally since 1999.
Event Details
Riders of all ages and skill levels receive a map of nearby grocery stores and ride their bikes – regardless of weather — to designated stores to purchase one or more food items specified on list. Everything purchased must be hauled by bicycle, either in a bag, pannier, rack, or trailer.
Who does it benefit?
Food collected this year will benefit Dare to Care Food Bank's food pantry at Catholic Enrichment Center located at 3146 W. Broadway, Louisville, KY which is part of their Produce, Pantry, and Commodities Programs.
What do I need?
Be prepared to spend about $15 at the grocery store (or however much you can) and ride between .5-6miles. Food item list and grocery store location near park is below. Collect what can in a pannier, backpack, trunk of car or SUV. Helmet is mandatory if traveling by bike. We want you to participate safely. Walk ups and drive ups are encouraged and appreciated.
What is the route?
There's no set route for the event. Participants will be given a food items list with grocery store locations. Event begins and ends at Willow Park.
****COVID PLAN***
We are still in a pandemic and want everyone safe as possible. We will continue to follow our local, state and federal guidelines regarding our gathering due to COVID-19.
Participants will go out on their own or with family this year. There is no in-person gathering to kick-off the event. However, we will FB live stream a portion of event. Participants will still receive raffle drawings and giveaways randomly.
Wear a mask if you feel necessary but it is not required at this time. Be sure to tell your friends about this event.
