Portugal is generally considered the final frontier of the Western wine world. The region developed in relative isolation, which means the majority of the varieties grown there are a) indigenous and b) unique to the region. It goes without saying that the region is best known for the sweet wines of the Douro Valley -- Port! We'll certainly try some delicious Port, but we'll also introduce you to the delicious and affordable table wines from the region, made from grapes with awesome names like Touriga Nacional and Trajadura. Saúde!
