Join Open Space staff on Harper Lake and Davidson Mesa to learn about local birds and contribute to the 122nd Audubon Christmas Bird Count
We will start at the Harper Lake Open Space kiosk at 8:00 AM. Birding destinations throughout the morning include Harper Lake, Davidson Mesa, and, time permitting, Coyote Run Open Spaces. Plan on approximately 3 miles of walking throughout the morning. Birders of all skill levels are welcome. This is an informal event, so participants are welcome to join or leave group throughout the morning.
Harper Lake is a wildlife sanctuary closed to pets, so please leave dogs at home. Dress appropriately for the weather. Please bring your own equipment (binoculars, scopes, field guides). Parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged.
Our observations will be submitted to the 122nd annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count, the nation's longest-running citizen science project. We will be part of the official Boulder CBC count area, which itself has been running for 80 years and helps inform local bird conservation efforts.
Come and enjoy this Christmas at Harper Lake on 2021-12-19
